Now that we are using more ICT, we decided to sort out some computerised customer lists. Liz has used a database to record the names and addresses of some people who been using the mountain bike uplift. However, not all of the information is up to date. I want to start using the information in the database to help me run the business better. We were hoping that you could help.

Jay is thinking about starting a competition to encourage more people to hire bicycles.
He wants to start it off small, so only wants to invite local customers.
Create a query in the database to list only the customers who live in Cwm Bryn.
Name the query Local Customer query

The list of local customers will need to be printed later. Create a report based on the local customers query
Name the report
Local Customer List

Jay has been thinking about the competition and thinks it will be more exciting if there are more people involved. He has finally decided to hold a mountain biking race for the 16- 25 year olds from Cwm Bryn and Donafon.
Create a new query, this time list everyone who is
From Cwm Bryn OR Dunafon
betwen the ages 16-25
in alphabetical order by surname ascending.
Name the query Competition Entries

Jay has written a letter to the people he wants to invite to the competition. Download the letter from the files area.
Put the details of the letter into a blank letterhead that you prepared in the earlier task. Jay has made two spelling mistakes; put them right.

Now the hard part. Jay wants you to mailmerge the letter with the Competition Entries query that you have created in the database. This way, each person will get a personal letter. Make sure each persons name and address appears on the letter.
Save the mailmerged letter with a sensible filename.
Save the final completed merged letters with a different filename.
If you don't remember how to maimerge, try the
Microsoft Website for a step-by-step guide

Now that the letters are finished, he needs address labels to put on the envelopes.
Go back to the database and create
a new report based on the Competition Entries query. Make sure the report is in the form of address labels. Call the report Competition address labels.
This video shows how to create address labels in Access.
