Unit 1a - Preparation
OK, We are ready to start. There is a lot to do in this project, so we need to start off on the right foot. You need to be organised and knowledgable about the sort of business I am running. Further down the line, you will be creating flyers, letters, a newsletter, as well as helping me sort out my customer lists and putting my finances onto a spreadsheet. Then there is the youtube add to make to spread the word, and if you stick at it, we could even put together a website. That would be a first for us, oh, and we will also need a radio advert. All that is for the future. All you have to worry about now, is getting organised and finding things out. Now your working for Cwm Bryn Activities, you need to know what you are talking about. |

Managing your files
You need to get ready for all of the work you are going to do. You need an area to save all of this work, away from the other work you might be doing. You might want to prepare the sub-folders ready for the work you will be doing as well as all the research you will be finding. Remember, whenever you save work, make sure it is in the right place with a sensible name.

Researching on the Internet
Prepare some research which is relevant to the Outdoor Activities business using the Internet. Ask yourself some questions such as; "Where are the best mountain bike trails in South Wales? How much does an average climbing weekend cost?" You'll need to know more than that. Collect information that could be used in a newsletter or be put on the CBA website. . If you need more ideas, see the extra help section below.

Organising Favourites
Go back to some of the good websites you have visited. This time,add them to "Favorites". You need to organise the favourites so that all of the research pages are separate from your personal favorites.You need to show screenshots of how you have organised them. Use the document and put in as many screenshots as you need.

Searching for files
There are some suitable image files and some useful information on a CD that Jay has been given. It also has some useless stuff on it. Search through the CD and find the bits you need. Copy these files into a folder you have prepared. Screenshot how you found the files and show the selected files in one folder to show that you have found them all.

Complex Searches
Jay wants to do his own research but doesn't know how to search on the Internet. Screenshot how you have used a search engine to find information. Show complex searches which find results more accurately. Put your screenshots in the document provided and explain what you have done.
