Well, we're off ! This project is a big one, so we have to get off to a good start. You need to be organised, and know something about the music business before we start. Later on you will help me by designing flyers, letters, a newsletter, as well as helping me sort out my customer lists and putting all my finances onto a spreadsheet. Then there's a music video to make, and if you stick at it, you can sort out my iDownloads web site, really update it, and help me with some local radio adverts. Right now, all you have to worry about is getting organised and getting in the know - I don't want someone working for me unless they can show me they understand the music business. |

You need to get ready for all of the work you are going to do. You need an area to save all of this work, away from the other work you might be doing. You might want to prepare the sub-folders ready for the work you will be doing as well as all the research you will be finding. Remember, whenever you save work, make sure it is in the right place with a sensible name.
If you don't know how to organise your files, watch this short video.

Prepare some research about the music business using the Internet. Ask yourself some questions such as; "What is currently number one in the charts? How many did it sell?" You'll need to know more than that. Collect information that could be used in a newsletter or be put on the i-Downloads website. If you need more ideas, see the extra help section below.
You might have your own ideas about research, but if not , here is a set of questions. Try to find out the answers to some of them and put them in the research document above.

Go back to some of the good websites you have visited. This time, add them to "Favorites". You need to organise the favourites so that all of the research pages are separate from your personal favorites. You need to show screenshots of how you have organised them. Use the document and put in as many screenshots as you need.
If you don't know how to organise your favourites, watch this short video. It also shows you how to do a screenshot.

There are some suitable image files and some useful information on a CD that Dave has been given. It also has some useless stuff on it. Search through the CD and find the bits you need. Copy these files into a folder you have prepared. Screenshot how you found the files and show the selected files in one folder to show that you have found them all.

Dave wants to do his own research but doesn't know how to search on the Internet. Screenshot how you have used a search engine to find information. Show complex searches which find results more accurately. Put your screenshots in the document provided and explain what you have done.

Dave is worried about copyright with all the information that is coming from the Internet. Answer his questions and show how you are thinking about copyright.
If you don't know much about copyright the teach-ict website might help
