Right, we're off. There's loads of work in this project, so its no good setting off all half-cocked. You need to do some preparation and some research so that you understand the situation here a bit better. Once all the preparation is done, not quite yet, you will get down to the nitty-gritty of helping our fundraising, through flyers, letters, and a newsletter to keep our regular donars informed of what happening. Of course, while you are here, we might as well get our finances onto a spreadsheet and get our pet-owners list sorted. You could even help us with a TV and radio appeal that we hope to get going, and if you stick with us, we could do with a website, that would help our cause! Thats all way off right now though. First-things-first. Right, get yourself organised, and start finding out more about what goes on in a shelter like ours, and what sort of things our patrons might be concerned about. Lets get up to speed. |

You need to get ready for all of the work you are going to do. You need an area to save all of this work, away from the other work you might be doing. You might want to prepare the sub-folders ready for the work you will be doing as well as all the research you will be finding. Remember, whenever you save work, make sure it is in the right place with a sensible name.
If you don't know how to organise your files, watch this short video.

Prepare some research about animal shelters and charities using the Internet. Ask yourself some questions such as; "What services does an animal shelter offer ? What treatments are available for a dog with flees?" You'll need to know more than that. Collect information that could be used in a newsletter or be put on the Shelter's website. If you need more ideas, see the extra help section below.
You might have your own ideas about research, but if not , here is a set of questions. Try to find out the answers to some of them and put them in the research document above.

Go back to some of the good websites you have visited. This time, add them to "Favorites". You need to organise the favourites so that all of the research pages are separate from your personal favorites. You need to show screenshots of how you have organised them. Use the document and put in as many screenshots as you need.
If you don't know how to organise your favourites, watch this short video. It also shows you how to do a screenshot.

There are some suitable image files and some useful information on a CD that Rob has been given. It also has some useless stuff on it. Search through the CD and find the bits you need. Copy these files into a folder you have prepared. Screenshot how you found the files and show the selected files in one folder to show that you have found them all.

Rob wants to do his own research but doesn't know how to search on the Internet. Screenshot how you have used a search engine to find information. Show complex searches which find results more accurately. Put your screenshots in the document provided and explain what you have done.

Rob is worried about copyright with all the information that is coming from the Internet. Answer his questions and show how you are thinking about copyright.
